Swimmers (2025)
Created in August 2025 in Joncels, France, Swimmers emerged from an everyday moment transformed through the artist’s gaze. During a summer weekend at a friend’s house, a group of bodies repeatedly dives into the pool. What begins as a spontaneous and playful gesture gradually becomes, through observation, a visual composition where movement, light, and water reshape the presence of the human body.
Photographed from above, the swimmers appear fragmented by the liquid surface. Arms, torsos, and legs emerge and dissolve within an aquatic space where sunlight creates reflections and distortions. The figures seem suspended in an in-between state, somewhere between floating and motion.
Within the series, the bodies evoke the fluid movement of koi fish, gliding slowly through an environment where water functions almost like a pictorial filter. At the same time, the illuminated skin, the softness of gestures, and the compositional balance recall certain traditions of the Italian Renaissance, where light and the human form create scenes of harmony and contemplation.
Swimmers exists in a space between contemporary photography and pictorial memory. The swimming pool becomes a stage where the ordinary transforms into an aquatic choreography, revealing the human body as a living form—mutable, ephemeral, and constantly shifting.
